Do you have purpose and want to keep it? Do you seek purpose and want to find it? We have all asked questions like: Why am I here? Who am I? Where am I going? What am I suppose to be doing? Good questions that some of us have already answered and others are still wondering. Remember the book “A purpose driven life” by Rick Warren? It was published shortly after 911 and sold a zillion and half copies in one decade. Why? Because people want to know their purpose. It helps in making decisions and reduce the worry and anxiety about your future. Be careful of identifying money or fame as your purpose. Your purpose and passion can certainly build money and fame. Consider taking my Mastermind program that begins next week. There will be a global representation of people talking and sharing about this very topic. AWE: Where to find it
AWE is everywhere and it takes paying attention and seeking it out to reap the benefits. Found mostly in nature but it can also be experienced and felt in seeing AWEsome architecture, in an AWEsome painting or photo or an AWEsome spiritual awakening. Go find some AWE as it will enhance your overall outlook and view of the world around you. Oh, by the way, where is this AWE?
The perks of aging
Do you like aging? Do you like getting OLDER? There are perks in aging, you know!? I actually don’t mind getting older and appreciate and enjoy the next year more than the year before. I don’t miss the things that I used to worry about in my 20’s and 30’s. I do wish I could share with my younger self what my older self NOW knows! Think about what people talk about at their high school reunions, particularly as you age? I share a story about this in the video. A few tips to enhance your appreciation of getting older…1. MOVE: both physically and mentally. Giddy up and go. 2. Eat well: (all in moderation) 3. Sleep: you will sleep better if you eat well and move. 4. Hang around with young people or at least young minded people. Happy aging! What tips can you share to appreciate getting older?
ALONE Time
When was the last time you spent time ALONE? No outside voices, no distractions, and no one telling you what to do?! Being by yourself and spending time ALONE are two different things. Going to the grocery store or taking care of the kids by yourself does not reap the benefits of ALONE time. Your own ALONE time has direct impact on how you lead others, how you relate and connect with others, and you can more clearly hear the voices that belong to you. I encourage you to carve out ALONE time – quiet time in the morning or a walk or hike ALONE. It can also reduce the anxiety and worry that often times cloud our progress. What do you do when you spend time ALONE? What benefits do you receive in your ALONE time?
Success or Significance: Which are you drawn toward?
Success can mean the credentials you seek, the degrees you achieve, the salary you reach, the title or position you want, or even a big office with a window. Notice the operative word…you! Significance, on the other hand, is about others and how you can bring value to your employees, students, or team. There is a place for success in career building but there is an end point to success. However, significance multiplies over and over again and there is no end. Success can provide the platform for significance but you don’t have to be successful to be significant and add value to others. Listen to the video about a man I met who said “I’ve made it.” In significance you never “make it”…you just keep on adding value and help others grow to be significant too. Be successful at being significant!
The Value of Consistency
How valuable is CONSISTENCY in your personal relationships and at work? This seems to be paramount in child rearing, training our pets, and in establishing boundaries and interactions with students. COVID has really impacted people’s lives and how the lack of consistency has played a huge role. The uncertainty and the many changes that we’ve experienced has disrupted the “consistent” flow of how we operate and communicate. Consistency adds to the trust in human connections, whether in business or in personal lives. If you have lost that consistency, begin and return to a place of consistency so that connections with others remain strong and resilient!
